Describing
her work, Shirley Thomas says, “Imagine a mouse nest –
a clump of soft fibers and torn paper loosely woven into a fluffy
ball – in the corner of an attic. People often react in
disgust when they find such a nest. But imagine the nest in another
way,” urges Thomas, “as small, fragile parts rearranged
on a flat vertical surface such as a wall. This ‘vertical
mouse nest’ is made of the same ingredients but we see it
differently.”
